Natalie McIvers, MA
Natalie McIvers has earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University. Natalie also holds a second Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology, with an emphasis in applied clinical psychology from George Washington University. Natalie is currently in the process of earning her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
Areas of Focus
In addition to her formal education and clinical training experience, Natalie has actively pursued advanced training in several specialty areas. She holds specialized training in: Trauma Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Child Play Therapy, Biofeedback, Polyvagal Theory, Sensorimotor Therapy, Family Systems Theory, and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT). Natalie takes a holistic approach to her theoretical orientation, utilizing psychoanalytic psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and more depending on the needs of her client. Her approach includes consideration of her client’s childhood, social history, worldview, family system and physical health.
Training and Experience
Prior to her doctoral-level education, Natalie completed a Masters-level clinical practicum at the American Red Cross Disaster Services National Headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia. Her experience included a significant amount of field work, where she provided treatment to individuals and families in both active and post-disaster sites. Natalie also held pre-doctoral employment in a private practice where she specialized in providing developmental therapies to children with neurodevelopmental disorders. She also has training in community mental health as well as school-based settings with children and young adults. Her additional clinical experience includes a psychotherapy practicum at a University Counseling Center. Natalie currently provides psychotherapy to a variety of populations including young adults, couples, and families. Natalie is passionate about providing compassionate, holistic care to her clients. She considers it an immense privilege to support her clients in their healing journey.
