Lori Gieseler, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Lori earned her Master of Social Work degree from the Louisiana State University-Baton Rouge. She has been licensed as a LCSW in Louisiana since 1988. Lori is trained in and working with a variety of mental health disorders to include depression and anxiety and also specializes in crisis intervention, relationship problems to include infidelity and work with spouses of sex addicts, codependency, perfectionism, abandonment and attachment issues, and work with survivors of abuse and those in foster care.
Training and Education
Lori was trained by the Crisis Prevention Institute where she became a master instructor in crisis intervention and non-violent techniques in working with out of control patients. She developed the model for the mobile crisis team for adults, adolescents and children who were experiencing a mental health crisis in a four parish area of southeast Louisiana. She has worked with the homeless population in the Greater New Orleans area, started two residential treatment facilities for adolescents- one for sex offenders and another for substance addicted and court ordered adolescents. She was also the administrator for an alternative school for delinquent adolescents on probation/parole. She enjoys working with adult and geriatric populations and was the clinical director for an inpatient psychiatric setting where she treated patients with individual, couple and group modalities. Lori has been a field instructor for several graduate schools of social work and enjoys providing various trainings in her fields of expertise throughout the state. In addition to working individually with clients, she has facilitated therapy groups in crisis intervention, anger management, anxiety disorders, self-esteem, and relationship issues.
Lori uses a variety of therapies in her practice, to include: Attachment-Based Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
