Jennifer has a genuine interest in supporting others to create a life that they love . Her “whole person” approach comes alive while considering all aspects of you when improving your mental well being.
Education and Training
Jennifer received her B.A and M.A from California State University Dominguez Hills in Clinical Psychology, Minor in Sociology, and emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. She has extensive training and experience working in the following areas: crisis intervention and prevention, foster care system, forensic setting/history of, substance use/history, domestic violence and how to break the cycle of violence, trauma history, and LGBTQI+ community. Jennifer has also worked with individuals who have an intellectual disability and mental health diagnosis.
Experience
Jennifer’s goal was to gain the experience and knowledge in working in various settings with people with a range of mental health diagnoses in order to have a better understanding of how to empower and support a person to be successful with meeting their goals. Prior to working in the private practice setting, she spent over 15 years working in community mental health which led her to meeting people at their homes, in hospitals, at parks, and at school just to name a few. Her dedication to meeting others where they are has strengthened her “whole person” approach in building a relationship that fosters trust, safety, unconditional positive regard, and accountability.
Areas of Focus
Jennifer individualizes her approach to best fit the client’s needs. She utilizes her experience with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), and Positive Psychology to develop a recipe for success while acknowledging that the relationship built between therapist and client is the foundation for progress.
